Taxes In Electricity Bills and Role of IPPs in Pakistan Current Situation
It has been told to standing Committee that During last year an amount of 1300 million rupees has been paid to IPPs (Independent Power Producers) in the form of Capacity Payments and during current year 2000 million rupees more would have to be paid.
It means these payments are made for such power plant that is dead, and 60% to 70% of its production charges have to be paid that is not producing a single watt of electricity. Just imagine that just on the dictation of world bank such a huge payments have been made from pockets of such poor people of the Pakistan during the last 35 years.
In this Loot, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf(PTI), Pakistan Peoples Part(PPP) and Pakistan Muslim Ligue (PML-N) and all Democratic, Dictatorships all are equally involve. Do Remember that Payments to these IPPs are made in US Dollars. It means incase of Rising in Dollar Price in Pakistan, Payments would be high as per current dollar rates.
In this Black Business Every stakeholder at every level is involved, These IPPs purchase Oil from black market (as Pakistan is Big Black market of Iran oil), In this black business state and its stakeholders are involved and get kickbacks and commissions from black market mafia. A Fair investigation can expose the entire black market and commission mafia.
These IPPs were bring into pakistan for just 25% of private investment and rest of the amount was collected through domestic banks guarantee loan. Pakistan's Public have to paid those instalments in the form of non-sense taxes on the electricity bills.
Up Till now more than 77 people attempted suicide country wide. The State has no cure for the People on the other hand Dollar is not available in the open market, as per news dollar is not available in open market at a rate of 325 Pakistani Rupees. Although open market announces dollar rate 302 per pakistani rupee.
Country wide protests are going on and rising up. people are not in a mood and condition to pay electricity bills as inflacion in commodities price is also another serious issue, government and private sector has no jobs for the youth.
Only solution of this problem can be possible that government should dismiss the contracts with IPPs and Wapda should take control of Supply chain of electricity.
